У каждого ребенка в первые годы жизни хотя бы один раз возникает острая инфекционная диарея. В связи с этим данное заболевание является одной из самых актуальных проблем педиатрии. В развитых странах диарейные заболевания крайне редко имеют неблагоприятный исход, но в развивающихся странах они остаются одной из главных причин детской смертности.
