This article advocates for a student-centered approach in English language classrooms. It argues that this approach fosters a more engaging and effective learning environment compared to traditional teacher-centered methods. There highlighted the benefits of student-centered learning, including increased motivation, deeper understanding, development of essential skills, and boosted confidence. It then offers practical strategies for teachers to implement, such as conducting needs assessments, offering choices in learning activities, promoting collaboration, and incorporating inquiry-based learning. It is acknowledged that the teacher's role changes in a student-centered classroom, transitioning from information deliverer to facilitator and guide. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the long-term benefits of student ownership in language learning and encourages educators to embrace this approach.
