SOME ISSUES OF ENSURING THE SAFETY OF THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS (On the example of international experience)

Abstract

The effectiveness of criminal proceedings largely depends on the creation of a
high-quality State system for the protection of victims, witnesses and other participants
in the criminal process. Many States have developed and implemented effective
systems of institutions and mechanisms that guarantee State protection of this category
of persons. Thus, in European countries, the system of protection of victims, witnesses
and other participants in criminal proceedings has been in operation for several
decades, the fundamental principles have been developed for a long time, are being
successfully implemented and form the basis of international norms in the field of
protection of this category of persons.
