THE COGNITIVE - PRAGMATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF ACADEMIC DISCOURSE

Abstract

Annotation. With the development of functionalism in linguistics in the
twentieth century. the concept of discourse becomes one of the central problems both
in theoretical research and in linguodidactics. Within the scope of this article the
english-language oral scientific and academic discourse is considered as a complex
communicative and cognitive phenomenon, theoretically its essence is substantiated,
features and place in the system of scientific discourse are revealed.
