Abstract

Abstract. Pseudoboehmite is aluminum hydroxide having a boehmite structure with a low degree of crystallization. It has a developed surface and high cohesive ability. Pseudoboehmite can be molded well in a screw machine, whereas, for example, coarse-crystalline aluminum trihydroxide can only be pressed under very high pressure, which destroys its crystalline structure. During the process of reprecipitation of aluminum hydroxides, a lot of waste is generated - up to 60 tons of water per ton of the finished product. Basically, these wastewaters are formed during the washing of pseudoboehmite.
